Endocrine Surgery

Our surgeons are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care to our patients with surgical disorders of the thyroid gland and parathyroid glands. We routinely use intra-operative rapid parathyroid hormone levels and radio-guided techniques, which help to ensure the operation is minimally invasive. Our focus is not only on a safe and effective operation, but also on minimizing pain, improving recovery times and minimizing scar formation. Specialized techniques used:

• NIMS: An electronic method of locating and monitoring the recurrent lyrngeal nerve during surgery
• Interoperative PTH: A laboratory method to rapidly determine the completeness of parathyroid adenoma removal
• PTeye Parathyroid Detection System: A near-infrared autoflorence method of locating parathryoid glands and tumors.
• Image guided FNA: A technique to biopsy suspicious thyroid nodules and cervical masses
